Tropheus duboisi ,the young of this species are stunning, with a patterning of white or light blue spots on a jet black body. This coloration fades to a blue-black with a yellow or  white vertical bar on the body as the fish mature.  It's endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa.  This species is maternal mouthbrooders with the females caring for their eggs and fry in their mouths.

It will accept most foods offered but vegetable matter in the form of spirulina flakes, blanched spinach, nori etc. should form the basis of the diet. This can be supplemented with small feeds of live and frozen varieties. Never feed beefheart or any other animal meat as it interferes with the digestive system of these fish.
