The IBI Scientific Belly Dancer/Belly Bath orbital shaker operates at speeds between 0 to 100rpm, and has an adjustable tilt angle, an orbital motion range of 1", overload detection, an LED with integrated temperature control, and a water bath with a clear lid. The adjustable tilt angle between 0 to 8 degrees provides ease of operation, and the orbital motion provides uniform mixing with a smooth continuous circular action. The lightweight, fast-heating water bath can be placed on the Belly Dancer or run separately on the side of the unit. The microprocessor proportional integral derivative (PID) temperature control has a setpoint control pad and digital display of actual water temperature on the front of the shaker. A dedicated on/off switch is also located on the control panel. The water bath incorporates a thermal run-away safety switch, which operates independent of the main temperature controller. The water bath is 3.25 x 10.38 x 10.38" (H x W x D) has a 3/16" thick polyethylene terephthalate (PET) clear lid with easy-grip handle and thermometer port. (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) Applications for this shaker include heat activation of serums, restriction enzyme digests, nucleic acid hybridizations, and hot staining protocols and recombinant DNA technology.Laboratory shakers agitate liquids during laboratory procedures. These devices can be analog or digital and are typically an automated, electrically powered, countertop unit that shakes liquid in lab containers, such as flasks, funnels, or test tubes. Some shakers can operate inside fume hoods, incubators, refrigerators, or other laboratory devices, and can include controls for the frequency and/or degree of movement. The types of shakers include: orbital, rocking, rolling, rotating, and wrist action. The most common orbital shaker provides a smooth, continuous, circular motion, sometimes with a tilt angle, for uniform mixing of contents. The rocking shaker creates gentle uniform mixing with a see-saw, or up and down, motion. Reciprocating, or rolling, shakers provide a horizontal side-to-side motion with simple agitation of samples. A rotating, or rotisserie, shaker provides samples with a rotating action that moves in a circular motion. Wrist-action shakers duplicate the effect of hand mixing with "arms" on each side of the unit. Some shakers have the ability to incubate or refrigerate samples while providing shaking action.IBI Scientific manufactures laboratory equipment such as shakers, rockers, and rollers. The company, founded in 1985 and headquartered in Peosta, IA, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001:2008.
